Mendik is one of the lesser-known sites in the Şanlıurfa region that fill in the dense Taş Tepeler network. It is only lightly published, and its detailed record is still emerging from survey and study rather than large-scale excavation.
Sites like Mendik matter cumulatively. Each one confirms that the T-pillar world was a whole landscape of communities, not a handful of famous hills — and that much of the region's early Neolithic story is still underground, waiting to be dug.
