Schmidt 2010 Fig. 10 identifies Pillar 43 in Enclosure D as the whole-pillar visual anchor for the current zone split. A 2023 Building F imagery source identifies a lower-shaft detail of Pillar 43 with a damaged headless human apparently riding a large bird.
What to notice
Pillar 43 is one of Göbekli Tepe's most fascinating carved pillars: birds, a vulture, a scorpion, a snake, and a damaged headless human figure appear in one dense visual field. The carvings are real; the meaning is still debated. Evidence
