The short version
We have almost no original photography. Nearly every image here is either Creative Commons from Wikimedia Commons, licensed to us by the German Archaeological Institute, or the site owner's own footage.
That is the largest gap on this site and we are not going to disguise it. A photograph of the object being discussed, taken by us, is worth more than any amount of writing about it.
What we hold
Every image displays its photographer, its title, its licence and a link, next to the image itself — not buried on this page. The counts below are generated from the credit files the site is built from, so they cannot drift out of step with what you actually see.
Reusing an image
Creative Commons images are not ours to grant or withhold. Take them from Wikimedia Commons and follow the licence — credit the photographer, name the licence, link to it.
German Archaeological Institute images are licensed to us for use on this site and are not ours to sublicense. Contact the DAI's Göbekli Tepe Research Project directly.
Our own footage and photographs — ask at info@thecommunitygarden.org. For research, teaching or journalism the answer is usually yes.
If we have your photograph wrong
If an image here is yours and is miscredited, wrongly licensed, or you would rather we did not use it, email info@thecommunitygarden.org and we will correct or remove it. We will not argue about it first.
